Bosch Dishwasher Repair in Ottawa: Common Faults, Costs and When to Call a Pro

Bosch dishwashers are known for quiet running and solid build. They still fail like any other machine, and when a Bosch does act up, the fix ranges from a two-minute filter clean to a parts-heavy repair. This guide to Bosch dishwasher repair covers the common faults, what they typically cost in Ottawa, and where the line sits between something you can check yourself and something to hand over.

Common Bosch Dishwasher Repair Problems

Symptoms are more reliable than codes, but Bosch displays do give useful clues. These are the ones I see most, with the caveat that exact meanings can vary by model and age, so check your manual.

  • E15 (water in the base pan): the leak protection has detected water in the bottom pan. The machine stops and may pump out. This is a safety feature and it should not be ignored. I cover it in detail in my post on the Bosch dishwasher E15 error.
  • E24 and E25 (drain problems): the machine is struggling to empty. The cause is often a blocked filter or hose, a clogged drain connection at the sink, or a pump that has failed.
  • E22 (filter): on many models, this points to a dirty or blocked filter.
  • E09 (heating): commonly a fault in the heating circuit. Dishes come out cold, wet or not properly cleaned.

Other faults do not always show a code. A circulation pump that is weak or noisy, a door latch that will not close or register, or a control module that behaves erratically can all look like a “dead” dishwasher. A machine that starts a cycle and stops with water sitting inside can be a drain issue, a sensor problem or a module fault, and testing is the only way to know.

What a Bosch Dishwasher Repair Typically Costs

Costs depend on the part and how much of the machine has to come apart. In the Ottawa area, typical figures look like this:

  • Service call (diagnostic): typically $80 to $120, often applied toward the repair if you go ahead.
  • Mainstream dishwasher repairs: typically $150 to $320. That covers many drain, filter-area and simpler mechanical jobs.
  • Parts-heavy Bosch jobs: typically $350 to $500, for example an AquaStop valve or a control module.

Labour is typically $90 to $150 per hour on top of the part. As with every repair, the exact quote comes after diagnosis and varies by model and part availability. Premium-brand parts often cost more and can take longer to arrive, which is a real reason to get the cause pinned down before you commit. If you are weighing brands, my comparisons of Whirlpool and Bosch dishwasher repair costs and Bosch versus Miele may help.

300, 500 and 800 Series: Does It Change the Repair?

The series number is mostly about features, such as noise level, rack design, extra drying options and cosmetic details. The fundamentals are similar across the range: a filter, a drain pump, a circulation pump, a heater and a control module. What changes is the specific part, and sometimes how much has to be removed to reach it.

In practice, that means a higher-series machine is not necessarily harder to diagnose, but its parts can cost more and take more time. I do not think a Bosch dishwasher becomes a bad buy because of the series. It is worth knowing the model number before you call, since it helps narrow down which parts apply.

What You Can Check Before You Call

A few safe checks are worth trying, especially if the dishwasher is not cleaning well or will not drain. Turn off and unplug the machine first.

  1. Clean the filter. Twist out the filter assembly in the bottom of the tub and rinse it under the tap. Food and grease buildup is behind a surprising number of drain and cleaning complaints.
  2. Check the spray arms. Look for blocked holes and make sure both arms spin freely.
  3. Look at the drain hose. Check for kinks behind the machine if you can reach it, and check the connection at the sink for a blocked disposer inlet.
  4. Run a hot water tap at the sink before starting, so the machine begins the cycle with hot water.
  5. Look at the settings. A wrong programme or an unclosed door can explain a lot.

Stop there. If there is water in the base pan, an E15 display, a burning smell, or any sign of a leak, turn off the water supply and leave the power off. Do not tilt the machine, run it again or try to bypass the leak protection. Anything involving live wiring, the heating circuit, the control module or the pump should be handled by a technician.

When to Call for Bosch Dishwasher Repair in Ottawa

Call if the error returns after a filter clean, if the machine leaks, trips the breaker, will not heat, or shows E15. Also call if the dishwasher is over a decade old and you want a clear view of whether it is worth repairing. I explain the diagnosis before any work begins, give you the price, and repairs come with a warranty.

My Bosch appliance repair page and the dishwasher repair service page explain what I work on. When you are ready, send the model number, the symptom and any code through the contact page. Same-day appointments are often available depending on the schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a Bosch dishwasher E15 error mean?

It generally means water has been detected in the base pan, which triggers the leak protection. Turn off the water and power, and have it checked before running it again, since the cause needs to be found.

Is Bosch dishwasher repair worth it?

Often, yes, especially for a newer machine or a common fault such as a drain issue. On an older entry-level model with an expensive parts-heavy problem, replacement can make more sense.

How much is a Bosch dishwasher repair cost?

Simpler jobs typically run $150 to $320, while parts-heavy repairs such as a valve or control module typically run $350 to $500. A diagnosis gives the real number.
